About Wing Chun
Wing Chun (Chinese: 詠春; pinyin: Yǒng chūn; literally "Spring Chant")
the system was developed during the Shaolin and Ming resistance movement against the Qing Dynasty
Wing Chun uses deflection and counter-attack in the same motion or will intercept the opponent to nullify an attack, rather than blocking then attacking in two separate motions. Further on interception the punch can act as a block as a consequence of the structure and the position of the arm traveling along its triangular "power-line" pathway to the opponent's "Core". This means that the opponent's attack is automatically deflected by the arm-structure of the Wing Chun practitioner as the counter-punch is delivered.
The Wing Chun System
The Wing Chun system incorporates 3 empty hand forms, a dummy form and two weapon forms. These are called.
- Siu-Lim-Tau (little idea)
- Chum-Kui (bridge seeking)
- Biu-Jee (darting fingers)
- Muk-Yan-Chong (Wooden Man)
- Lik-Dim-Boon-Gwan (six and a half point pole)
- Bart-Cham-Dao (butterfly knives)
Wing Chun also has a curriculum called Chi-sau this is designed to help you apply the techniques and theories learned in the empty hand forms to real fighting
