About Islam in London

London has a vibrant community of well over 1 million Muslims. The Community is diverse, coming from all four corners of the Globe. From Somalia, the Gulf, Pakistan, Indian, Bangladesh, Turkey, Nigeria, Lebanon, Morocco, etc. There are hundreds of Mosques in London and at Friday Jummah every one is completely full. As well as the Mosques, there are thousands of Halal eateries and shops, and hundreds of events every month.

Islamic Facilities

In London there are facilities to provide funeral services Janaza. Not all Mosques provide this facility, but there are a few that do. There are also Muslim Graveyards, throughout London. Some are dedicated such as Peace Gardens in Hainault, and some are sections within non muslim graveyards. Marriage is also a big thing in London, with most Mosques providing a Nikah ceremony. There is also a huge industry surrounding marriages. Asian Weddings are typically large, with huge halls, lots of people and lots of food.

London is also a great place to be for Ramadan and Eid. There are two Eids a year and both involve praying at the mosque. This is a time when mosques reach bursting point and most mosques have at least 3 Jamaats, filling up and spilling out onto the pavement on each Jamaat
