Halloween London

The Annual Celebration of Halloween on the 31st of October. As in all modern day festivals, Halloween has developed and changed often time. Today its about jack o lanterns, trick or treating and dressing up in scary costumes.

But the origins are not so clear. There is no record in anglo saxon history of celebrations surrounding the dead, monsters and gauls on the 31st October.

Halloween is the old english word for eve of all Hallows, with Hallows meaning saints. All Saints day was celebrated since it was created by the Romans in thanks to Christian saints on the 31st October.

Somehow this date has morphed pagan Celtic ideas of the onset of winter and the increase in Ghosts and Gauls with All Saints Day.

This is particular of the US and has gradually made its way into the UK, along with many other US celebrations and Customs
