Background of the Association
2002/03 - Establishment
The founding committee members of this organisation consist of professionals such as solicitors, public accountant, business trader and education psychologist. The Community Engagement Manager of Barnet Council also serves on the committee.
With the help of London Borough of Barnet's Council and individual Chinese volunteers, the Barnet Chinese Community Association is hereby formed to promote equal access for all Chinese people in London Borough of Barnet to all resources and services provided, as to improve their quality of life.
2003/04 - Change of the name
Owing to our association’s commitment to provide wider possible service to the wider Chinese community the proposed new name North London Chinese Association Ltd (NLCA) has been unanimously voted for during the recent AGM on 23rd April 2003 to replace the former name Barnet Chinese Community Association Ltd (BCCA).
Since BCCA's formation a year ago, it has grown in size quite rapidly and its members are now from different boroughs not only Barnet. In order to embrace this growth and our long term commitment in North London Chinese Community, the new association’s name will be able to meet these objectives.
