Martial Arts InstituteMaster Wai-Po Tang founded the Martial Art Institute (MAI) in 1986. The organisation's training syllabus encompasses both traditional and progressive approaches. Master Tang considers martial arts is a way of life, and it is not exclusively for learning to fight. As such, all elements of the martial arts learning focus not only effective combative techniques but also focusses on health and fitness as well as personal development - That is learning and discovering one self, through accepting one's strengths and weaknesses; and attaining inner peace by overcoming our own insecurities. About Master TangMaster Tang is one of the highest authorities in Foshan Wing Chun and contemporary Wing Chun, he was awarded the highest traditional Kung Fu honour 'The Wing Chun Descendant' by China's Grandmaster Yui Kil in February 1988. Master Tang is an associated member and consultant to a government department of Whitehall SPARTA since 2002; and a full member of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) since 2000; and a recognised sports coach UK member of the National Coaching Foundation, and also an accredited 'GRANDMASTER' of Wing Chun Kung Fu - awarded by a UK governing bodies AMA in 2001 and the British National Association of Martial Arts and Combat Sports Worldwide; also by China's Great Grandmaster Yui Kil Foshan Wing Chun Heritage.
