The Chinese Cultural Centre

The Chinese Cultural Centre is a London based non-profit arts organisation founded in 1986. Responding to London's role as the cultural city of Great Britain, the CCC seeks to present and produce programme of current global relevance within a community context at important venues

Annual Festivals

Every year we put on a series of Chinese Cultural events which tour London wide. These often include Chinese Opera, Acrobatics, Martial Arts, Music and Songs. The programme includes overseas and UK based artists.We offer educational events in connection with these programmes to London primary schools.

Education

The Chinese Cultural Centre has a long established record of producing workshops, holiday programmes and special educational events for:

  • schools,
  • Local Authorities Educational Services (e.g. Westminster City Council, L.B. of Greenwich)
  • museums,
  • galleries
  • and arts centres within the remit of its Festival Programmes and all year round.

Chinese Film Society

the Chinese Film Society (CFS) was established in 1984 with an objective to provide the Chinese community and the non-Chinese with entertainment having a cultural value and to enrich the cultural life in the community by presenting films which would not normally find their way into local commercial cinemas. Its work has been recognised by the Greater London Arts (the then London Arts) as "the only organisation who brings Chinese films to London which has contributed to and enhanced film and video culture in the region". The festival consists of a 7-10 day programme of a thematic archiveand contemporary video, film & documentaries produced from Hong Kong, Taiwan

Chinese Dance & Mime Theatre

the Chinese Dance & Mime Theatre Company was established in 1989 and administrated by the Chinese Cultural Centre. The Company aims to present a wide range of Chinese dance, music ad theatre to the wider audience. Much of the company's work has centred on the innovative fusion or traditional dance with stories and themes from both the East and the West, supported by a wide-ranging education and community programme. The Company often performs with the London Chinese Orchestra and has experience a healthy growth under the directorship of Madame Dai Ailian, the internationally acclaimed choreographer and dance master in China. The Company's core members are professionally trained dancers from China, Hong Kong & Taiwan presently based in the UK.

London Chinese Orchestra

Founded in 1984 and administrated by the Chinese Cultural Centre, The London Chinese Orchestra is the first formally organised professional Chinese ensemble in the UK. Its members comprise of professionally instrumentalists from China, Taiwan & Hong Kong. Principle instruments are: Erhu (2 stringed fiddle), Pipa (4 stringed Chinese lute), Di & Xiao (bamboo vertical & horizontal flutes), Yangqin (dulcimer) & heng (wind instrument).
