Beauchamp, The Electric Barge and Floating Classroom, operates from its base in Little Venice near Paddington in Central London. The Electric Barge is available for hire for all kinds of events, including private parties, launches, staff awaydays and training courses. The Floating Classroom offers lively, hands-on science, environmental and history lessons to school children from across London (and beyond). Our mission is to promote opportunity and social inclusion through providing hands-on, imaginative learning experiences that change lives. We believe that education should be involving, exciting and fun. The programmes that we offer on the Floating Classroom, and the way that we teach them, embody these values. Out-of-classroom learning should be different from, but complementary to, the teaching that takes place in schools. On the Floating Classroom this means that our programme of science, environment and history education is shaped by the venue on which the learning takes place. For example, what better way to learn about Forces than by referring to the bridges we pass under and the canal locks we pass through? We currently offer 3 education programmes for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 classes:
