Barkingside is a place in the London Borough of Redbridge, East London. It is a suburban development.
Barkingside History
Barkingside was historically part of Essex until 1965, when the Greater London boroughs were created. It is home to schools including Ilford County High School and King Solomon High School. Barkingside is chiefly known for the children's charity Barnardo's, the charity that was founded here 1866; it is in Barkingside where the charity's national headquarters are based. Barkingside is also famous for its connection with Alan Sugar, who has strong commercial interests within Barkingside High Street.
Barkingside also has a strong Jewish Community with Gants Hill and Redbridge being the largest Jewish Community in Europe
