How to become an Actor

How to become an Actor? The most important preparation for a career in Acting is to enroll in a drama or acting school. This will lay the foundation for all your future work. Courses at drama schools usually last 3 years and the entrance requirements are very competitive. You will be expected to audition, with both Modern and Classical Speeches. It is a good idea to get voice or drama teaching from tutors before applying for Drama School.

Once at Drama school you develop the core skills needed to be a successful actor/actress. You will also begin the search for a suitable Acting Agent. Casting directors and agents will be invited to the two or three productions you will be part of within the school.

Also do not underestimate networking, especially at Drama School, as the acting industry is very much about who you know

Acting Agencies London

There are quite a few Acting Agencies in London. The Agent you work with through an Acting Agency is crucial in how your career progresses. When you first meet your agent, be sure to bring head shots contact sheets or other examples of good photographs of yourself. Remember some UK agents receive over 50 head shots and cvs a day. The Agent will be responsible for putting you in front of a casting director , producer or photographer. Many agents are very busy, but this is a good sign, and you are encouraged to persevere.
